ATA Carnet in Basel

Basel is Switzerland's most carnet-friendly corner. The EuroAirport customs office handles carnets, including brand-new ones, every day from 05:00 to midnight, and the two motorway crossings into Germany and France stamp opened carnets around the clock. The first digital eATA transaction in the world was processed at Basel/Weil am Rhein on 1 June 2026.

EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg

One airport, two customs administrations: EuroAirport stands on French soil but contains a Swiss customs sector under a 1949 treaty. Landside, the terminal splits into a Swiss sector and a French sector. The rule of thumb for a Swiss-issued carnet:
